Rebecca Carter-Whitehead

Senior Ecologist

Rebecca is a Senior Ecologist with 7 years industry experience in a variety of projects and species.  She has experience acting as a technical lead who can co-ordinate and manage projects, recommending and undertaking protected species or habitat surveys and propose appropriate mitigation in scale with the project. Rebecca’s work within the industry has led to her specialising in dormice and bats.

Rebecca has also completed work in Zimbabwe studying lions who were captive bred for release into the wild, and she has also worked with desert bats in Saudi Arabia during multiple trips across 2021 and 2022. Rebecca is an active member of the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Bat Group and the Surrey Dormouse Group.

  • Bat level 3 & 4 licences – CL19 & CL20

  • Dormouse level 1 licence – CL10A

  • Great crested newt level 1 licence – CL08

  • Experience in leading trapping and radiotracking surveys including harp traps, mist nets, and use of lures and rings

  • Leading on a full suite of protected species surveys

  • Leading on Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments

  • Ecological Clerk of Works for a variety of species-specific projects

  • Report writing, project management, and drafting European Protected Species License applications
