Alice Motola
Assistant Ecologist
Alice is an Assistant Ecologist, having joined the Ecology Co-op in March 2024.
Alice holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, a two years master’s degree in Sciences of Nature and a one year specialisation in Environmental Forestry at Bangor University. Her academic studies took place in four different countries: Italy, Iceland, Croatia and Wales. Alice has carried out research on thermophilic bacteria and brown algae in the University of Akureyri and research on the biological control of mycotoxins in the University of Zadar, which was published on the scientific Journal ‘Toxins’ in February 2023. Her main fascination is for lichens and has conducted a tree lichen survey on Anglesey in collaboration with the AONB of the isle and cofnod, with the main purpose of updating the old records. Alice generally prefers botany yet has also gained interest in herpetofauna, bats and dormice.
Outside of work Alice enjoys a wide range of hobbies and activities amongst which: photography, travelling, cooking, belly dancing, gardening, running on the seafront and wild swimming.

Experience surveying Triturus carnifex in central Italy
